July 5 - Ground Bake

Ground Bake - this occurs when a region receives consistently below average precipitation. It can have a substantial impact on the ecosystem and agriculture of the affected region. For most regions, drought conditions are a normal, recurrent feature of the climate, and having adequate drought mitigation strategies in place can greatly reduce the impact.

July 2 - Sunflower

Sunflower - (Helianthus annuus) is an annual plant native to the Americas in the family Asteraceae, with a large flowering head. The stem of the flower can grow between 3 and 12 feet tall, and the flower head 2 to 3 inches in diameter with bright yellow petals. They grow between July and October, and require full sun to grow well. The new plant grows and turns toward the sun before the petals will open to expose the seeds on the flower head.

Trivia - The sunflower is the state flower of the U.S. state of Kansas, and one of the city flowers of Kitakyushu, Japan.
