Songbird Crop - In a songbird's digestive system, the crop is an expanded, muscular pouch near the throat. It is a part of the digestive tract, essentially an enlarged part of the esophagus. As with most other organisms that have a crop, the crop is used to temporarily store food.
Many songbirds will hold onto the seeds in their crop and digest the seeds after dark, creating the energy needed to survive the cold winter night.

February 9 - Hunting Season
Hunting Season - Arctic sea ice melts during the summer, eliminating the polar bear's hunting grounds. To prepare, the bears hunt voraciously in the winter until around half of their body mass is pure fat - enough to survive summer with little or no food.
Global warming is causing sea ice to melt sooner and freeze later, significantly shortening the polar bears' hunting season.Full Snow Moon - Since the heaviest snow usually falls during the month of February, native indian tribes called February's full Moon the Full Snow Moon. Some tribes also referred to this Moon as the Full Hunger Moon, since harsh weather conditions in their areas made hunting very difficult.
