Color Change - Senescence is the process by which deciduous trees withdraw chemicals and water from their leaves. When the green chlorophyll is gone, the leaves change into a myriad of colors.
When all the chemicals have been withdrawn, the leaf's attachment to the stem is so weak that it will fall in a gentle wind.
