Perihelion - On January 3 at 19:00 UTC, Earth reaches its closest orbital point to the Sun for this year. It will reach 91.4 million miles from the Sun, which is 3.1 million miles closer than when it is at its farthest point (aphelion), in July.
Solar Eclipse - A partial solar eclipse will be visible in most of Europe on January 4 at 09:15 UTC.
