August 12 - Lingering Light

Lingering Light - Because of Earth's tilt, the Sun's path in northern latitudes is longer during the summer months, resulting in the longest lingering twilights of the year.


Perseids - The Perseid meteor shower peaks on August 13. However, the Moon may interfere with observation.

August 3 - Head Butt

Head Butt - During mating season, rams butt heads in fights that can last up to 20 hours. Their skulls are adapted to absorb the shock of these brawls. When they collide, the crash can be heard up to a mile away.
